Jewelry FAQs
In which other countries can I buy Desert Diamonds jewelry?
Desert Diamonds are now available through our global network of Distributors in over 26 countries around the world. Please visit our global team section of the website for a fully listing of the countries and contact details for Distributors. If your country is not currently represented by a Distributor, why not considered starting your own Desert Diamonds distributorship? Email us at ddglobal@desertdiamondsco.com for more information.
How do I know if I have purchased a genuine piece of Desert Diamonds jewelry?
All our jewelry is branded with our DD logo and is individually hallmarked as your guarantee of absolute quality so you may rest assured that your purchase is an authentic Desert Diamonds piece.
What karat gold is used in Desert Diamonds jewelry?
Our gold jewelry is set in the highest quality 18k gold or 14k gold – not gold-plated or lower grade (9k) as some of our competitors. The quality of the setting is what makes the difference between a fine piece of jewelry and a cheap looking piece of jewelry. We use only quality settings, and don’t scrimp on the quality or quantity of gold. Our gold designs have been careful selected to be “timeless” – your investment will never date and your customers will cherish their purchase forever. We genuinely believe our tag lines - “Designer jewelry without the designer price-tag” and “women can buy themselves for themselves!”.
Is my jewelry purchase guaranteed?
All jewelry in the Desert Diamonds Collection is guaranteed for limited period against defective workmanship. The diamond simulants used in Desert Diamonds-what women want® jewelry are guaranteed for a life time to retain their shine and brilliance under normal wear. See our website for full warranty terms and conditions. Our jewelry is made by manufacturers who supply to some of Europe’s exclusive high end brands, so we are assured our quality is of sheer excellence always.
How should I care for my Desert Diamonds jewelry?
Certain basic precautions apply to help to keep the sparkle in your jewelry:
- Remove your jewelry when pursuing outdoor sports and activities, including gardening and swimming, and when you are doing heavy housework.
- Avoid excessive impact against hard surfaces, and contact with perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals.
- Never remove jewelry by pulling directly on any of the stones.
As with all jewelry, regular cleaning is important as soaps, lotions and other everyday build-up can reduce the brilliance of the stone. To clean your Desert Diamonds jewelry, use either a mild solution of 6 parts water to one part ammonia or a commercially available
nonabrasive jewelry cleaner, and apply with a very soft non-metallic bristled brush. Ultra sonic cleaning is not safe for many gemstones so we advise against this method.
Professional cleaning and servicing (which includes checking the setting and prongs) is highly recommended at least once a year. Check our jewelry care section of the website, or speak to your Desert Diamonds Distributor about the services that we offer.
What is rhodium plating?
Rhodium is a metal that is part of the platinum family. It is a hard, durable, silvery white metal that is highly reflective. Rhodium can be electroplated on precious metals (gold, silver and platinum), to give it a shiny white surface. This is known as rhodium flashing or plating.
All of our 18k white gold jewelry and 925 sterling silver jewelry is rhodium plated to improve its appearance. Sterling silver jewelry that has been rhodium plated requires less maintenance. The jewelry will not tarnish when the rhodium protective coating is intact.
Rhodium plating wears away over time - do not use abrasive cleaners as this will wear away the protective coating faster. To prevent jewelry from tarnishing and help retain its luster, items should be re-plated with rhodium every 12-18 months depending on the amount of wear and tear the item has endured.
Can you make jewelry to my personal specifications?
One of our key Desert Diamonds differences is that we offer a custom design service in 18k or 14k gold, or sterling silver. You can alter the existing Desert Diamonds Collection or create a new design using our diamond simulants, precious or semi precious stones. Be inspired by world class jewelry brands! Customers can create their own Desert Diamonds jewelry in any combination of 18k or 14 k white or yellow gold, or sterling silver. Any of our existing designs in the Desert Diamonds Collection can be modified, for example, customers may wish to substitute a different carat size, cut or color of stone of their choice.
Many customers will already have a firm idea of what they would like or they can consult their Distributor for guidance. Prior to ordering a custom design we encourage you to seek a quotation from us. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing and delivery of custom made jewelry. Customers are assured of getting that special piece.
